UPDATE: March 23, 2012

After much consideration – and months of in-home testing and scrutinizing – I am convinced that e-cloth® offers a product that is equal in quality and performance to Norwex but is more reasonably priced. I still stand behind my review of the Norwex Enviro cloth, but the e-cloth® General Purpose cloth performs just as well - and is of equally high quality - at a fraction of the price.

Not only do you NOT NEED soap or cleansers (your Enviro Cloth will pick up over 99.9% of bacteria and grime with only water), but soap and cleansers will make your Enviro Cloth less effective and may prevent the silver from doing its “bacteria killing” job.

Wondering why you SHOULD NOT USE SOAP WITH YOUR NORWEX MICROFIBER CLOTHS TO CLEAN/STERILIZE SURFACES but you have to use soap to clean the cloths?

You can use soap to wash the cloths because when the cloth is supersaturated the fibers swell open and remain open while the soap encapsulates the dirt.  By thoroughly rinsing your cloth afterwards, both the dirt and the soap is rinsed clean away.

If you’re using soapy water to clean surfaces, you wring out the cloth before using, and the soap seals the fibers shut, combines with dirt and grime and acts like glue (sticking the dirt and bacteria to the cloth causing it to become impacted) while at the same time coating the fiber and preventing the silver from doing it’s job.
