30 Days of the Norwex Enviro Cloth – Day 16 – Cleaning Floors

UPDATE: March 23, 2012

After much consideration – and months of in-home testing and scrutinizing – I am convinced that e-cloth® offers a product that is equal in quality and performance to Norwex but is more reasonably priced. I still stand behind my review of the Norwex Enviro Cloth, but the e-cloth® General Purpose Cloth (and the new e-cloth® Antibacterial Cloth) performs just as well – and is of equally high quality – at a fraction of the price.

I know, I know, the chances of you getting down on your hands and knees and hand-washing your floor are as likely as Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp popping in to my house for a beer.

But… for small areas where a spot cleaning is needed (like in small rooms, under a high chair, beside the stove, around a pet food/water dish, spills etc.), nothing beats the Enviro Cloth. And as my Aunt Joan mentioned to me, the Enviro Cloth fits very nicely onto your Swiffer so all of a sudden you’ve got yourself a pretty handy mop (or ceiling cobweb duster) with no waste.

So how do you clean your floors with the Norwex Enviro Cloth? Simple… just dampen the cloth and wipe in a circular motion. No scrubbing required, just light wiping. For sticky spots, I suggest that you continue the light circular motion over the spot until it’s gone instead of “scrubbing” to preserve the microfiber. Also, if your floor has a lot of hair on it (perhaps it’s the bathroom floor or you have a pet), I recommend sweeping that up or wiping/collecting it with a DRY Enviro Cloth first.

If you’re worried about streaks showing on your floor, just remember, the dryer the cloth, the less streaks it will leave. So you really only have to slightly dampen your Enviro Cloth to clean your floors.

If you fold the Enviro cloth in half, then in half again, you’ve got 8 cleaning surfaces. Once one surface gets grimey, move to the next one. You can clean your whole floor without a bucket of water or a second trip to the sink.

And as mentioned above, if you’ve got an old Swiffer kicking around, clip the damp Enviro Cloth onto it for a make-shift mop.

The Enviro Cloth is ideal for cleaning all types of flooring including:

  1. hardwood
  2. softwood
  3. linoleum
  4. tile
  5. vinyl
  6. cork and
  7. bamboo

Of course, if you’ve got a lot of floor space you’re looking to clean, you might want to consider the a proper microfiber mop. I’ve posted a couple of reviews of microfiber mops.
